Premium Resources

You may wonder why we have three books available for purchase, when we have so many free downloads available right here on the website.  We have put together three books that include everything you might need for a themed retreat.  These books have a lot of general information about planning a retreat from start to finish. In addition, each book has resources that are related to the specific theme including graphics that you are free to use, a quiet time Bible study, theme-related skit script(s), a list of promise verses, and decorating ideas/giveaways/etc. While many of the helpful tips to planning and coordinating a retreat can be found by searching retreatinabag.net, the books have the basics in one resource.

The three book themes are:

  1. “DISCIPLESHEEP–Putting Off Your Wolf-Like Tendencies
  2. “Steadfast and Immovable”
  3. “We are the Fragrance of Christ”

We also have two (so far) downloadable “retreat guides” available for purchase: “Hidden Riches” and “His Wonders in the Deep.”  These guides gives only theme-related resources, and assumes the reader knows the basics of putting on a retreat. We are hoping to have more “guides” available soon.

All of our resources are meant to spark your creativity and encourage you to seek the Lord as you make your retreat your own.  Don’t buy a book and think all the work has been done for you.  If you do, you are limiting the Lord, and the ways He would tailor-make the retreat or event for your group!

Making Assignments

We are in the planning stages of our 2017 retreat.  Most of the major decisions are made.  The location has been reserved, and we are working out final details with the guest speaker and worship leader.  Those are the “biggies,” and the culmination of much prayer and seeking the Lord.  Up to this point, our women’s ministry team has been praying, but those decisions were mostly made by the retreat coordinator and leader.  We will now involve the remainder of our women’s ministry team as we put the plan into motion, and we need everyone to pitch in.  The best way we have found to coordinate that is to make “assignments.”  We have nine women on the team, and the majority have been on the team and have worked together on the last ten retreats.  So, being aware of their gifts and strengths, we do our best to make assignments to best utilize those gifts. For instance, we try to take advantage of those women who have a talent in decorating, or a gift of administration, a gift of hospitality, even good computer skills.  These are some of the areas that we assign:

  • Theme, Schedule, Workshops
  • Promotion (flyers, mailings, projection slides, online, website, etc.)
  • Registration (including rooming list)
  • Graphic, booklet and nametags
  • Writing quiet time study and skit
  • Schedule and workshops
  • Remembrance gift
  • Decorations
  • Sound, projections and recording
  • Venue and catering communiction
  • Greeters
  • Book table (including ordering books, finding reviewers)
  • Communion (supplies and servantsz0
  • Hospitality table at the retreat
  • Greeters at the retreat/Guest speaker care
  • Person to be in charge of prayer (before and during retreat)

First Responders, Part II

First Responders —

“She extends her hands to the poor.  Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.”

Philippians 2, verses 4 and 13 “Let each of you look not only for his (or her) own interest, but also for the interests of others…..For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”  How thankful we are that when God puts someone with a need in front of us, He also puts that desire in our hearts to help them and enables us to do what we need to do.  The needs around us are great.  God wants to use us.  He chooses to use us as His hands and feet to respond to those in need.  “Bear ye one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ!”

Decorating for the Glory of God

In the list of spiritual gifts in the Bible, the “gift” of decorating is not mentioned.  It is, however, a gift the God can use!

Decorating is not my gift–I’ll freely admit that.  While I appreciate decorations and look in awe at those to whom decorating comes naturally, I could be content with a “bare bones” event or retreat. While there is a value to simplicity, who who am I to prevent those who want to serve the Lord with their decorating talents?  Decorations truly can reinforce and enhance your event theme.

Use those women who have that gift! Share your vision with them. You may have to pull on the reins a bit, due to budget concerns or time restraints,  but if they are willing to work within the parameters you set, let them go for it! God gave them that creativity to use for His glory.

Announcing New Skits!

I’m excited to announce the addition of new, free downloadable skits to the website! We have added (1) one-act skit, (2) serial skits and (2) skit series. These are some of my new favorites, and there are more to come. Have you considered using skits? Try something new! You can do a skit! Check out other blogs on the topic on our website.

“Out with the Old” is a one-act skit about sanctification–putting off the old and putting on the new. Kelly has moved to a new city and a new job. As she unpacks, she realizes that there are things that she needs to get rid of that are no longer of any benefit to her.

“Your Day in Court” is skit series of four short skits examining salvation from a legal setting. Who is our righteous Judge? Who is our accuser (the prosecutor)? What are the charges and evidence against us? Do we deserve the death penalty? How did Jesus secure our pardon and grant us freedom?

“StormProofers, Unlimited” is a skit series consisting of three short skits. Severe weather is predicted, and heavy damage could result. Stormproofers, Unlimited to the rescue! They have the advice and products to help Kelly to have a godly perspective in the midst of the storm, and to avoid permanent damage from the storm.

“The Quest” is a three-act serial skit used at our retreat entitled “Surefooted.” In this skit, three women vie for the title of “Miss Sportz World” by completing a quest. Each woman follows a path set out for her where she will encounter challenges and trials, as well as an enemy. Will they finish strong? Who will win?

“Trusting 101” is a four-act serial skit used at our retreat entitled “In All Your Ways.” In this skit, Sybil attends a continuing education class “Trusting 101.” She is presented with three case studies, and as she considers each one, her Mind, her Will, her Emotions and her Spirit all weigh in as she learns about trusting God in all situations.

Check out these new skits–I pray you can use them!
